Why is it bad to not wear sunscreen?

Not wearing sunscreen means your skin is exposed to UV radiation that causes cumulative damage over time. UV exposure is the primary environmental cause of premature skin ageing and pigmentation. The effects build silently over years before becoming visible. Daily sunscreen use is the most straightforward way to slow this process.

UV radiation from the sun includes UVB rays (responsible for surface-level effects like burning and tanning) and UVA rays (which penetrate deeper and break down collagen and elastin). In India, UV index levels are high for much of the year, meaning meaningful UV exposure happens year-round, not just in summer. Studies consistently show that unprotected UV exposure is the leading environmental factor in photoaging, sun spots, and uneven skin tone. The damage is invisible day to day but adds up over decades. Starting sunscreen early and keeping the habit is the single most impactful thing you can do for your skin's long-term health.
